Learning and development

At Eden Futures, we understand that not everyone has experience of working in the care sector, and that’s why we recruit individuals based on their values.

When you first join Eden Futures, you will be paid for completing a comprehensive Induction Programme involving face-to-face training, e-learning and shadowing experienced members of your team.

For those new to care, we will make sure that you are given the support to complete your Care Certificate and gain a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or relevant to your role, partnering with our provider company Lifetime Training.

Opportunities

All staff at Eden Futures are given the opportunity to continuously develop their skills and knowledge by completing Mandatory training such as Health & Safety and Fire Safety, as well as accessing our bespoke learning, including training such as Autism, Diabetes, Learning Disabilities and Mental Health. We offer a blended learning approach through face-to-face, e-learning, observations, workbooks, coaching and mentoring.

At Eden Futures, we are committed to supporting our staff to develop, and for those looking to build their career in care we offer a range of development programmes. Our newly launched ‘Leadership Development Programme’ is designed to equip staff wishing to develop or who may be new to management with the core skills, knowledge and experience to undertake a management role. Those on the programme have access to a wealth of resources including mentoring, coaching and guidance from senior managers across the business. We also run regular ‘Boot Camps’ for existing managers looking to take that next step into senior management. These camps provide an opportunity for managers to work with and gain experience and knowledge from senior leaders across the organisation, to enable managers to develop their management and leadership skills.

All staff have access to regular group and 1:1 supervisions, and will complete a Personal Development Plan as part of their continuous professional development.

Celebrating Success

Our Annual Leadership Conference gives us the opportunity to celebrate employee achievements. Each year, we hold our annual Eden Employee Awards, which seek to recognise and reward the outstanding achievements of employees across the organisation in all roles, from Newcomer of the Year, The Extra Mile and Under the Radar award to the coveted Support Worker of the year award. This is always a great evening and all winners are put forward for the National Learning Disabilities and Autism Awards.

Apprenticeships

Eden Futures is able to offer Support Worker Apprenticeships to individuals looking to get their start in the care sector.

We also offer a range of apprenticeships for new and existing staff including:

  • Adult Care Work (levels 2 & 3)
  • Business Administration & Customer Services (Level 2 & 3)
  • Team Leader (level 2)
  • Care Leadership & Management (Level 5)

Apprenticeships will normally take between 12-18 months to complete.

Josh Gladding is currently studying toward his NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, with an apprentice support worker role in Cleethorpes. He commented: “I enjoy helping people and learning new skills. The role was completely new to me but I now have a development plan and I love being able to support people on my own.”

Former nursery nurse Olivia Rick wanted a career change and was attracted to a role at Eden Futures’ Head Office in Newark. “I completed my apprenticeship and I have now secured a HR Assistant role. The apprenticeship was a great way to find my feet and I was attracted to the role as the organisation was very supportive. I am now studying toward my CIPD Certificate in HR Practice.”

The best company I have ever worked for – 25 years working in social care and this is the happiest I have been.
