EDEN FUTURES WELCOMES FIRST RESIDENTS TO NEW NOTTINGHAM SERVICE

Eden Futures is welcoming service users for the first time to its newly opened service in the Sherwood area of Nottingham city.  Six of the eight self-contained apartments are now full as part of the first phase of moving, with referrals in place for the remaining apartments and shared house accommodation as lockdown restrictions continue to relax.

Eden Futures has provided flexible long-term care, support and housing solutions for people in Nottinghamshire for over 25 years. It has worked in partnership with Nottingham City Council and Hilldale Housing Association to provide the eight apartments and two four-bed houses, creating 30 new jobs.

Dave Whittock, director of service development, says: “Building on our current service provision in Nottingham we’ve worked collaboratively with our partners to meet increasing demand and provide additional support. The lockdown brought many significant challenges, both to the people we support and our staff, and like many things it caused a delay to opening. We need to continue building specialist supported living services to support vulnerable people in our communities, so we’re delighted to be making progress now. We look forward to launching more supported living provision in England during 2020.”

Each apartment at the new service has its own bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and lounge-diner, while the shared accommodation includes a communal garden and living room for residents. Assistive technologies and an on-site staff hub enable Eden Futures to provide 24/7 support.
