A healthy workforce

Each year, Mental Health Awareness Week focuses on a major issue affecting mental health. This year the focus is stress. Mental health charity Mind report that approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year, and stress is a major contributor to this.

In the workplace many individuals face stressful and challenging situations. This is very true for our workforce at Eden Futures, who make an enormous contribution to the wellbeing of the people we support. They are at the centre of everything we do, and if they are facing challenging situations, this can be very stressful for our care workers.

We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of individuals and tackling mental health issues in the workplace. Along with flexible working and family friendly policies, Eden Futures has partnered with Lifeworks to provide all employees access to a wealth of support through our Employee Benefits platform.

As well as access to fantastic perks and vouchers on hundreds of high street and on-line shops, Lifeworks provides access to articles, information, toolkits and support on all aspects of life employees may need assistance with. These include finances, saving to buy your first home, childcare, wellbeing, stress, health, relationships and much more. Employees can also access our support service, which offers free confidential advice 24/7 and signposting to local support services.

We also expect our workforce to uphold our visions and values, one of which is to treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times. This includes those we support, as well as team members. Receiving positive support from your colleagues makes a huge difference in being able to cope daily at work.

All of our Team Leaders should demonstrate the key qualities of being inspiring, authentic, resilient, fair and consistent. They are committed to upholding these values, ensuring the workforce feels valued, encouraged and supported in doing their job.

Our mental health is as important as physical health. If we are mentally healthy, we can cope more easily with daily challenges and enjoy a positive outlook on life.

If you are an employee at Eden Futures, and you feel like you need additional help and support, please speak to a member of our HR team, contact Tuesday Wilmott, Head of HR, or find more information on Ernie (intranet).
